Some photos I took at the Cromford Mill Comic Con event his year.
Although this, and last year’s meeting have used the title ‘Comic Con’ there’s not much in the way of actual comics. However, it’s become very much a real sci-fi and fantasy show event, with food stalls, and plenty of people dressed up up as their favourite film and TV characters. There’s also a few trade stands selling new and vintage sci-fi related memorabilia,
The main reason I visit is to see , and photograph scale models and props from current and classic film and television series, all built and displayed by some extremely talented modellers.

This is an actual screen used prop seen in Gerry & Sylvia Anderson’s seventies TV series, Space: 1999. It’s the ‘Pilot Ship’ from the second season two-parter episode, ‘The Bringers of Wonder’. Sylvia and Gerry had sadly, parted company by the second series, and the stories took on a different direction, moving away from thought-provoking proper sci- fi , and showing the inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha coping with survival on the runaway Moon, replacing this with more straight-forward action driven plots, and a resident shape-shifting alien. However, the production values and models effects remained top notch.

Hattie Hayridge was a special guest at the event. Hattie played the female version of the ship’s computer, ‘Holly’, in Red Dwarf.

There’s cosplaying, and then there’s ultimate cosplaying!

I was impressed with this cosplayer’s choice of costume. Chris, Bexton, here was dressed as the traffic warden, seen in ‘Threads’.
